Job routinely requires the management and coordination of a diverse range of complex assignments requiring the use of experience, innovation and judgment.  Uses knowledge and experience to solve highly complex problems.  Plans and conducts complex work requiring independent evaluation. Exercises substantial latitude for independent decisions. Regularly demonstrates technical expertise in a number of specialties, geographic areas or operational functions.  Applies specialized knowledge in the effective completion of major projects and/or work assignments.  Able to apply fundamental economic evaluations and to present recommendations.  Demonstrates and encourages professional conduct and business ethics.  Actively participates in all internal and external training required for the position.

Must be available for call outs 24/7.

Job Duties

  • Maintains a safe operating environment.
  • Installs and maintains communication equipment, as well as electronic measurement devices
  • Maintains calibration schedules.
  • Calibrates RTU's.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electronic and SCADA equipment.
  • Adjusts and repairs pressure regulation systems and pneumatic systems.
  • Provides technical and operational direction to lower-level Instrumentation Technicians.
  • Troubleshoots and correct radio system problems.
  • Navigates and has some set-up capability for in-house SCADA systems including Oasys & Cygnet.
  • Installs and set up RTU's for new wells
  • May perform other duties in another classification, as directed.

Required Skills

  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Word and Excel 
  • Advanced mechanical/electrical skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills

Strong working knowledge of:

  • National Electric Code
  • Ethernet networks and associated equipment
  • Physical properties of gases and basic gas law
  • Routers and communication devices
  • Communication protocols such as Modbus, TCP, Modbus RTU, and Hart
  • Telephone and digital radio communications, and electronic theory and circuitry
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills

Required Experience

  • Three years of electrical/instrumentation experience.
  • Associates degree in electronics, or vocational certification in Electrical/Electronic or equivalent of education and experience required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
