Manager, Leases

Objective: Oversees personnel and management of approximately 4 Million acres in the Appalachia Basin using Enertia Software.  Maintenance of oil and gas leases and fee minerals on a daily basis to help ensure retention of the acreage, proper payment of reoccurring obligations and accurate reporting of overall acreage position for quarterly and year-end corporate filings. Ensure compliance with any special provisions in lease agreements, including drilling obligations and pugh clauses.  Provide accurate and timely reporting of acreage position to executive management.  Ensure the proper payment of reoccurring obligations with regards to licenses, permits and other associated production agreements. 


  • Management of two lease management teams (~ 15 employees) and contractors as necessary to meet the businesses’ goals.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure reporting requests, research and needs are being met.

  • Ensure consistent, accurate and timely updating of leases and other associated agreements.

  • Provide accurate, timely and reproducible reporting to comply with SOX audit requirements and SEC filings.

  • Work with Production Land and Accounting to manage expiration of leases, impairments, plugging and abandonment of wells.

  • Manages the processing of weekly obligation payments and responses to landowner questions specific to the Lease group, including Free Gas Customers.

  • Assures all documents are scanned according to the approved indexing scheme.


  • 8+ years of experience in oil and gas industry and previous management experience required.

  • Experience in land, land administration or lease administration, preferred.

  • Strong management skills, ability to collaborate with other departments and ability to manage reports in two locations required.

  • Experience in the Appalachian Basin, preferred.

Required Education:



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent years of experience.
