The Safety/Sr. Safety Coordinator manages, through an integrated approach, Business Unit compliance with applicable safety requirements (regulatory and company), safety processes and attainment of critical safety performance indicators.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages, assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations;
  • Manages the successful integration of safety risk management opportunities into the business unit operations and processes;
  • Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs;
  • Serves as a technical lead for safety issues and opportunities to include regulatory interfacing;
  • Determines daily/weekly/monthly activities in conjunction with the designated business unit;
  • Leads and provides technical support to the business units’ incident reporting, investigation and corrective action completion process;
  • Conducts internal safety audits and inspections - reviews processes for regulatory compliance and internal company expectations; prepares written reports of findings and corrective and or preventive actions where indicated and tracks action to closure;
  • Manages, through development, planning and implementation, the safety training for employees;
  • Develops and presents key safety information including data trending analysis to the business teams to facilitate attainment of performance indicators and initiatives;
  • Provides safety emergency response planning and on-site event expertise;
  • Leads designated BU and company-wide safety programs;
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of safety programs;
  • Guides and assists personnel at locations with critical safety and health concerns;
  • Plans and directs safety and industrial hygiene monitoring activities;
  • Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company;
  • Select and approve purchase of safety devices including personal protective equipment,
  • Provide reports, presentations and other information as needed to Senior Executives; and
  • Lead the development of contractor site-specific plans and training to ensure compliance with EQT rules and regulations.
  • Provides leadership for multiple contractor safety personnel.

Required Skills:

  • Highly knowledgeable of safety and health regulations, regulatory agency interaction processes, and incident response and investigation;
  • Must have documented experience in the following areas:
    • Trenching and Excavations
    • Cranes, rigging and safety procedures associated with the use of pipeline handling equipment
    • Welding safety procedures, hot work, and confined spaces as it pertains to pipeline construction
    • Work zone safety regulations
  • Ability to safely maneuver and walk on Right of Ways
  • Ability to work in various types of weather
  • Demonstrated experience in the tactical support of safety and regulatory programs within the natural gas or related industry on large scale projects;
  • Excellent leadership, communication and writing skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to influence and effectively partner;
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to travel overnight occasionally (5-10%)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and problem solve; and
  • Computer skills including Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety science, engineering, or environmental science;
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of safety and regulatory programs within the natural gas or related industry;
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience
