The Land Technician (Coal) supports the coal landman and the coal approval process.  Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Assembles, copies, scans, files and tracks coal approvals

  • Tracks internal priorities of the coal group

  • Coordinates the coal group’s priorities to order and track coal title

  • Preliminary review and organization of title documents

  • Attends internal meetings with coal landman, as needed

  • Requests and assembles logging information for spud wells and forwards to coal companies

  • Prepares & processes follow up correspondence with coal companies

  • Prepares well spacing waivers

  • Inputs and keeps coal approval information up to date in LandManager database

  • Checks plats and coal exhibits for applicable coal coordinates

  • Coordinate Conversion through corpscom, as needed

  • Checks state databases for coal permit and mine information

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • High degree of initiative, attention to detail and accuracy, timeliness

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to follow through on assignments and manage deadlines

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deal with time sensitive issues in an effective manner

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access preferred

  • Knowledge of SharePoint preferred

  • Working knowledge of plats, tax maps, farmline, topographic maps and property deeds preferred

  • Basic knowledge of coordinate systems is a plus

  • Willingness to learn

    Required experience:

  • High school diploma

  • 0-1 year of commensurate experience
