The Credit Specialist I is responsible for credit analysis and monitoring of an assigned portfolio of counterparties, assisting in development and enhancement of procedures and for negotiating and administering credit support.  This position also provides analytical support to evaluate credit risks of structured transactions.   Expectations, in addition to the ability to exercise a moderate degree of independent credit judgment and to communicate effectively both inside and outside of the Credit department, include a demonstrated understanding of the market for natural gas and the ability to articulate this knowledge with confidence in the course of interactions with business development groups.  Partner with business development groups in executing EQT’s business development strategy; helping to effect profitable sales with minimal credit losses


  • Credit analysis and monitoring of an assigned portfolio of counterparties 
  • Assisting in development and enhancement of procedures; tracking counterparty exposures and accounts receivable
  • Identifying issues that may negatively affect counterparty ability to repay and elevating them promptly to senior management
  • Preparing requests to establish or increase counterparty credit limits, integrating discussion of key risks with the business case for exposure
  • Negotiating credit support, including letters of credit, guaranties or pre-payment arrangements
  • Providing analytical support to evaluate credit risks of structured transactions


  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills a plus
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues and develop and defend recommendations
  • Software:  Credit Point, SNL, DNBi, S & P, ETRM, Docusphere, Upside
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or a closely related field

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience
  • Experience in the evaluation of commercial agreements and documents
  • Formal credit training strongly preferred
